Brandon Yank Jones, 50, passed peacefully to meet Jesus face to face on Saturday, March 23, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. Brandon was born on September 19, 1973, in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He lived for a short time in Louisiana before spending most of his life in the Dallas area. Brandon was the son of the late Patrick Yank Jones and Joan Stell Jones Edmonds.
Brandon loved the outdoors. As a child he lived in a rural area and spent his time riding 4 wheelers and motorcycles and whatever mischief he could find with his cousins and his sister. He graduated from Marcus High School and spent some time at the University of North Texas. Brandon was gifted with a mind for mechanical and technical talents. He spent his career in the furniture business installing high end electronic home theater units and managing warehousing crews for several large furniture stores. He owned a furniture and delivery service, KBK Delivery, for several years, where he enjoyed establishing great relationships with many customers and businesses.
On September 4, 1999, Brandon married the love of his life, Kellie Mitchell Jones. Their love story was a testimony to God’s timing, provision and intervention in both of their lives. Brandon never let a day go by in their marriage where he did not show and express his love for Kellie in multiple ways. They built their marriage on their mutual faith and love for Jesus. Brandon always said his biggest temptation was that he knew Jesus needed to be first in his life, but it was hard to keep Kellie out of that position! They raised 3 amazing children together, Keaton Yank (21) a junior at Texas Tech University, Payton Rebecca (19), a sophomore at Dallas Baptist University, and Caleb Trey (17) a senior at Hillcrest High School. There was nothing more that Brandon wanted to do than to love and entertain his 3 kids. He spent every weekend making homemade waterslides, compressed air cannons, tree houses, zip lines and more. He made their home the neighborhood playground for all kids around. He loved coaching the kids’ soccer teams and watching endless baseball and softball games, where he was always known as the biggest fan wearing painted wigs and passing out cheer gear to get everyone involved. He loved extending his entertainment skills to nieces and nephews, bringing the fun and excitement to every gathering.
Brandon and Kellie have been members of Prestonwood Baptist church for their entire marriage. They have developed many special relationships and lifelong friendships through each of the Bible Fellowship Classes where they have been involved. Brandon loved working in the kid’s ministry and ran AWANA game time for the Prestonwood Dallas Campus for several years and enjoyed volunteering to attend Kid’s Camps and Freedom Weekends. He was director of their Bible Fellowship class while at the Dallas Campus and was also ordained as a deacon, one of the most treasured moments of his life. He loved making hospital visits where he could love and pray with other people who were experiencing suffering and pain that he also experienced, being able to encourage them and bring them the hope and love of Jesus. Some of Brandon’s favorite experiences involved his time on Mission Trips to Chiapas, Mexico with other men from Prestonwood. His favorite part of the trip was always the visit to the orphanage where he would take an entire suitcase full of toys to share with the children there. Once again, he also brought entertainment on these Mission trips. The stories continue to be told even today. Brandon specifically asked that those in their current Bible Fellowship class at Prestonwood, LIFT, friends who have become family to him, know how very much he loved each one of them and wanted to thank them for the love and support system they have been for the Jones family throughout his battle with cancer.
Brandon is survived by his loving wife, Kellie, and his 3 children, Keaton, Payton, and Caleb, his Mother, Joan Edmonds of Terrell, Texas, his sister, Alyssa (Erik) Gisler of Crandall, Texas, nephew’s Grant Gisler (Kelsey) of Terrell, Texas, and Pierce Gisler of Crandall, Texas, Father in Law, Dennis Mitchell of Iowa Park, Texas, Brother in Law’s, Scott (Stacy) Mitchell of Granbury, Texas, Trey (Danielle) Mitchell of Frisco, Texas, Todd (Kathryn) Mitchell of Abilene, Texas, nieces and nephews, Syrah Mitchell of Tyler, Texas, Sydney Mitchell and Skyler Mitchell of Granbury, Texas, Haley Mitchell and Becca Mitchell of Frisco, Texas, and Emily Mitchell, Judson Mitchell and Lily Kate Mitchell all of Abilene, Texas, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
