Bow Sin "Jack" Siu left this world to give Jesus the biggest "man hug" on July 27, 2019 at the age of 83. He left this world to find out answers to those hard hitting questions like "What is Heaven like?", "Is there really a Rainbow Bridge?", "If God sneezes, what do you say?" and "If a train leaves Los Angeles and another train leaves Chicago at 10:00 am, what time will they both meet?"
This international man of mystery was born in the not so mysterious Zhongshan, China to Lin Bow Siu and Kwai Jun Lau in 1935. His older brother, Bow Kwai loved having Double O Bow as a younger brother!
Being a man of ridiculously few words, Bow Sin used his work ethic to speak for him and his character.
During the pre-Uber days when the cycle rickshaw was the norm, rickshaw drivers would oftentimes discriminate based on weight. If an individual didn’t weigh as little as a supermodel during New York Fashion Week, they were turned down and mocked.
Well, Bow Sin believed that if one wasn’t working, one was slacking. So, he would give these individuals a ride without batting an eye. He brought equality to all rickshaw riders in the land. Since he was quiet, he was the perfect driver. How many times have you wished for a non-talkative Uber driver?
Many moons later, a career change and a family, Bow Sin opened the Eastern Chinese Restaurant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He believed that the family that works together, stays together. While Bow Sin worked the kitchen, his sidekick/wife Miu Yu worked the dining area and the indentured servants called children filled in various other roles. Little did he realize that he ingrained the importance of work into those little slaves!
Being an international man of mystery, Bow Sin could not be tied down to a particular city and moved quite a bit in his lifetime: Zhongshan, China; Kowloon, Hong Kong; Honolulu, Hawaii; Molokai, Hawaii; San Francisco, California; Tulsa, Oklahoma and Plano, Texas. To this day, his children wonder why he left the Hawaiian paradise and moved to a place not known for its beaches and beautiful weather: Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bow Sin had a combustible temper that would rival Acme dynamite in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. When someone took a match to his temper wick, everyone within a five mile radius knew to "run for their lives" and hide. Otherwise, toys, kitchen items or anything that was in his way
would be sliced and diced. Just ask John about his driver's license that met an unfortunate end with a kitchen knife. Ginsu knives definitely missed a great product spokesperson!
Providing for his family was a priority to him. He made sacrifices that he believed would feed, house, ground and educate his family. Although, not turning on the A/C in his car on a hot summer day still puzzles the mind.
It shocked his family when they found out he was such avid pet lover. He loved all of the cats his wife, Miu Yu would hoard and oftentimes he could be seen rolling down Preston Road three deep with his two dogs, Lovey and Polo.
Bow Sin was predeceased by his mother Kwai Jun Lau, his father Lin Bow Siu, his brother Bow Kwai Siu, three dogs and a ton of cats. He is survived by his spicy mama of fifty-one years, Miu Yu Siu; his awesome children: Marry Siu of Plano, Texas; John Siu and his wife Amy Siu of Dayton Ohio; Allan Siu and his wife Kunyu Siu of McKinney, Texas; Allison Siu of Prosper, Texas; his beloved grandchildren Michael Siu, Matthew Siu, Jordan Dejarnett and Alexander Siu; his dog Chandler and grandcat Casey.
The festivities will kick off with a visitation at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 8, 2019 followed by Double O Bow’s Life-a-Palooza at 11:00 am at Allen Family Funeral Options in Plano, Texas.
Bow Sin will be laid to rest at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Ridgeview Memorial Park in where else, but the Asian Memorial Garden.
