Bonifacio De Guzman

November 30, 1942 — February 5, 2020

Bonifacio "Boning" De Guzman was born November 30, 1942 in Philippines to parents Marcial and Aurea (Bellen) De Guzman.  He had 12 brothers and sisters.

Boning met his future wife Lydia and they became childhood sweethearts from the moment he saw her at 6 years old.  They had eight children; five girls and 3 boys.  The two of them were married for 58 years; almost 59.

He was a very good family man; always thinking about his family more than himself. Boning was well known in our village as a great example, good model citizen and someone who is so funny, friendly, approachable and giving and he was loved by everyone. He was a fisherman by trade and made a living to provide for his family. He sent everyone of his 8 children to college. He told them that education is something that he only dreamt about when he was young but didn't have a chance to do. It was important for him to give that to us. He worked hard to make that happen and was always full of wisdom and advice.

His favorite pastimes were to fish, sing karaoke and play guitar.

Boning is survived by his loving wife Lydia B. de Guzman; children Marieta Penaflor, Efren De Guzman, Anita Allen, Bonifacio De Guzman, Jr., Gerardo De Guzman, Marilou De Guzman, Merle Green, Aurea Belano; 24 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

There will be an Evening of Remembrance Saturday, February 8, from 6:00-9:00 P.M. with words of Remembrance at 6:15 P.M. spoken by Fr. Sinu Joseph.
