Bob Lathrop

September 12, 1931 — September 13, 2022

Bob A. Lathrop went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 13, 2022.   He was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on September 12, 1931, to Russell Joe and Ernestine (Purvine) Lathrop.

Bob graduated from Ardmore High School in 1949. He joined the United States Air Force in September 1949 and completed his service with an honorable discharge on February 13, 1953, as Staff Sargent.  Bob went on to attend the University of Oklahoma and Southern Methodist University where he earned a BA degree in accounting.

Bob had a long career of over 40 years as an Accountant in several positions with Samedan Oil Company, Cabot Corporation and Matrix Energy.  He ended his career in Public Accounting and had a private practice.

Bob enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Hawaii, and spending time with family and friends.  He loved watching football and golf.  Bob was an avid supporter of the OU Sooners football team and attended many OU & TX games.  He was a member of Christ Church Plano and had a love for Jesus Christ which he readily shared with others.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Ann Lathrop; son, Matthew Lathrop; three daughters, Kathy Cox, Cindy Lathrop and Beth Lathrop and son in law Bob Imel; and daughter in law, Sherri Lathrop . Bob is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Amy Simpson, Luke Lathrop, Jill Lathrop Bradshaw, Josh Pittman, Justin Pittman, Adam Lathrop, Will Buxton and Katie Buxton Harper and 11 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bryan Boatman and many dear nieces and nephews and extended family.  Bob was preceded in death by his father, Russell Joe Lathrop, mother Ernestine Lathrop Taylor, stepfather, Star Taylor, sister, Janie Lee Joiner, brothers, Russell Joe Lathrop, Sr. and Bill Ray Lathrop, and son, Michael Lathrop.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all family, friends and church family for their loving support.  Thank you to health care workers at Baylor Scott White Hospital McKinney and The Legacy, Willow Bend for their exceptional care and support.

The family will receive friends for a visitation Monday, September 19, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Christ Church Plano, 4550 Legacy Dr, Plano, Texas with reception following
