John Blake Crosby, III (Blake) of Richardson, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of December 27, 2020 at the age of 58. After a courageous fight to overcome Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and recover from a bone marrow transplant, he passed away from complications due to COVID-19.
Blake was born in Bethesda, Maryland on October 28 th , 1962 to parents John Blake Crosby Jr and Marsha Kerst Crosby. He grew up in Friendswood, TX where he was acolyte at Good Shephard Episcopal Church and was active in Boy Scotts Troop 445. He attained the highest achievement of Eagle Scout in 1977. He graduated from Friendswood High School in 1980 and graduated from Austin College in 1986 with a BA in Psychology. After graduating from college, Blake worked for American Airlines from 1986 to 1993; then transferred to Sabre Holding, Inc. where he held several IT positions before illness forced him to resign.
Blake loved life and knew how to enjoy every moment of it. He was gregarious, curious, and spent his youth seeking adventure. He was an avid surfer and traveled to California, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and the Fiji Islands in a quest to catch the perfect wave. He loved skateboarding, mountain biking, and sailing; all of which he continued into his adult life.
When Blake was not off on an adventure, he enjoyed time at home. He had an ear for music and played the piano, violin, and guitar. He had fondness for anything related to boats, planes, and guns. Blake enjoyed hosting weekly family dinners and became an expert in outdoor grilling and offset smoking.
And most of all, Blake loved his family. Through numerous adventures and life experiences, he made sure they were prepared for life without him.
Blake is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly Cooksey Crosby, his daughter, Sarah Crosby, and her wife, Claire Moore Crosby, and his daughter Katherine Crosby. He is also survived by his mother, Marsha Crosby, his sister, Jonica Cason along with her husband, Greg Cason, and their children Bryce Cason and Emory Cason, and many extended family members who loved him as well. He is proceeded in death by his father, John Blake Crosby, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 12 th at 2 pm at Church of the Holy Communion, 17405 Muirfield Dr., Dallas, TX 75287. Properly worn face masks and social distancing will be required.
