Billy Michael Henderson

December 12, 1935 — July 19, 2020

Billy Michael Henderson, a devoted follower of Christ, died Sunday, July 19, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. He was 84 years old. Mike was born December 12, 1935 to Ruth and C.E. Henderson in Memphis, Tennessee. He and his loving wife, Bettie Jo (Coulter), celebrated 62 years of marriage in April.

He served in the U.S. Army, graduating from the Army Language Institute with honors. He served with distinction as a Russian linguist. Mike graduated from Webster University with a B.A. in International Business. He traveled to more than 60 countries with his work and was always a friend to missionaries wherever he went. He sought excellence in all his endeavors.

Also surviving are four children - Cathy (Rick) Talbot, Caleb (Kathi) Henderson, Missy (Brent) Laytham, and Laura (Richard) Jones; 11 grandchildren – Ryan (Julie) Talbot, Hillary (Chris) Seymour, Lauren (Josh) Davis, Audrey (Joshua) Mercuri, Aaron Henderson, David Henderson, Monica Laytham, Wesley (Rachel) Laytham, Gray Jones, Catherine Jones, Rives Jones; and one great grandchild, Achaius Davis. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Edward (Shirley) Henderson, his brother-in-law Jimmy (Jan) Coulter, and his sister-in-law Jeannette (Frank) Shivers.

Mike loved Jesus with all his heart, which was evident in his voracious appetite for the Scriptures. He would pray for opportunities to share the gospel and the Lord answered that prayer abundantly! Mike had no greater joy than sharing with others the truth in the power of the Cross and the overwhelming grace of God in Christ Jesus. Mike trusted in the sovereignty of God, lived a life of gratitude for his salvation through faith alone, and demonstrated to all who knew him his deep desire to keep eternity in view.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
