A few days after entering the world in 1961, Beverly was adopted from Hope Cottage in Dallas, by Hilda and Lyle Blair. She remained a life-long resident of Dallas, graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1979. In her senior year she was a top-of-the-pyramid cheerleader, and Homecoming Queen.
After spending one year at Baylor University in Waco, she moved to Lubbock, Texas where she graduated with a B.S. in business at Texas Tech University. Soon after, she enjoyed a summer backpacking in Western Europe with her buddy Karen. She later confirmed what she suspected. She was indeed of Irish, Scottish, British, and Scandinavian heritage. But really, just a Texan!
She had a multi-decade career in advertising sales beginning with The Dallas Times Herald. She also mixed in a bit of local modeling on the side. Her career highlights included working for Kidd Craddick at KISS FM. This combined her love of music, and a career. Later, she would work selling for the Dallas Mavericks through PSP Sports in Dallas. This would combine her love of sports and a career. She would end her working life with jobs at COMFORCE, Montair, and The Bickel & Brewer Law Firm.
Throughout her Christian life, she was a member of multiple church communities, including Highland Park United Methodist, Park Cities Baptist, and Northwest Bible Church. This is where she would meet her husband of 25 years, Dave Sliepka. They would later worship at Watermark Community Church in Lake Highlands, and Fellowship Church of Grapevine, Plano, Allen with their sons Payton and Zach.
No matter where you knew her from, her signature smile could disarm anyone. She had a way of seeing the best in people, regardless of their lifestyle or experiences. If she knew you, she liked you, and was always energetic to help people.
She passed after a slow, 18-year battle with Huntington’s Disease. But even that could not contain her radiant smile that remained until just hours before she passed onto the next plain.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband David Sliepka; sons Payton Sliepka and his husband Mason Wolfe and Zachary Sliepka; brother David Blair and his wife Sally; nephews and niece Corey, Chris and Callie Blair; father-in-law William Sliepka; brothers and sisters in law Jeff Sliepka and his wife Terri and Jennifer Ley and her husband Dennis. She was preceded in death by her father Lyle Blair and her mother and stepfather Hilda and James Clark.
