Beverley Jean Holmes

August 30, 1963 — April 11, 2021

The family of Beverley Jean Holmes, age 57, is deeply saddened to announce her sudden and unexpected passing on April 11, 2021.   She had a long battle with Crohn’s disease and it was time for her suffering to end.  Beverley was born in Garland, Texas on August 30, 1963 ready and raring to go.

As a proud South Garland Colonel, Beverley was an involved student.  She served on the student council, was part of her senior year’s homecoming court, and was a standout Southern Belle. As a student at her beloved Texas Tech University, she studied Accounting and Management and was an active member of their Tri Delta chapter.  She remained a proud and lifelong supporter of her Red Raiders.

After graduating from Texas Tech University, Beverley resumed her role as an active member in her hometown of Garland by lending her support to multiple charities and organizations.  But, more importantly, she provided her personal support to anyone that was in need.  Her friends, family, and community could always count on her to help in any area of support.  She organized and assisted with class reunions, fundraisers, charity golf tournaments, blood drives, toy and school supply drives, and was always the first one to raise her hand to help.

She was a proud volunteer with the Special Ones Network (SON) and helped with countless Christmas parties and Easter egg hunts for the many special needs kids and adults served by this organization.  She also stepped up to assist residents of Garland and Rowlett after the December 2015 tornadoes that ravaged the area.  She served meals, sorted donations, and walked the streets delivering water.  If you had a cause – she was your champion.  She even knocked on doors, handed out flyers and sang the praises of a dear friend that was running for City Council.  When she found out that South Garland High was in need – she was instrumental in the organization of a long overdue, and much needed Alumni Association that was formed to help fill the gap between school, community and home for the students at South Garland High School.  Throughout the decades, Beverley was recognized as the glue that held her community together.  She worked for many companies in human resources over her lifetime ending her career at American Airlines.  She also was a member of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas.

Beverley was considered a “second” mom and a counselor to many in our family.  Her love knew no bounds. You would never know Beverley was not a rich person financially as she was always sneaking a twenty-dollar bill to one of her nieces or nephews.  Christmas wasn’t Christmas until Beverley arrived; for that matter, no party began until she walked in the door.  I don’t think I’ve never known anyone with a heart so big.  We love you Bev and will forever be grateful for you. Oh, and who will be the family picture taker now? Her heart and passion to live as Christ fueled her drive to help others.  She will be met at the gates with a “Job well done, Beverley, and welcome home”.

Beverley is survived by her partner Lloyd Iglehart III of Grand Prairie, Texas, sister Mary Kay Holmes and partner Dr. Henry Walter of Richardson, Texas, brother Paul Holmes and wife Peggy of Montgomery, Texas, brother Gordon Holmes and wife Jerrie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and sister Sandra Webster and husband Mark of Plano, Texas and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Katherine Holmes of Garland, Texas and nephew Chase Holmes of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Allen Family Funeral Options in Plano, Texas.
