Betty Jo Payne (nee Logan) was born on December 20, 1934 in Marble Falls, Arkansas to parents Denzel and Barta Logan. She passed from this life on June 17, 2019 at the age of 84.
Betty met her husband, Norman, when she was 15 and he was 16 – their love story continued 63 years, until Norman passed in February, 2016.
She was the perfect example of the military wife and partner for Norman’s 26-year career in the Air Force and 17 years of government service. Known for her smile, hugs, and generosity, she will be forever missed by all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her children, Richard Payne and his wife Lonnie, Terri Cloum and her husband Stephen, and James Payne and his wife Peggy; grandchildren Stephen Payne and his wife Cynthia, Ryan Payne and his wife Felisha, Kristin Payne, Marissa Godwin and her husband Bobby, Ashley Connor and her husband Joshua, Caitlin Jones and her husband Max and Kayla Coppenbarger and her husband Alan and great-grandchildren Mason Sughrue, Riley Payne, Emma Payne, Grace Coppenbarger, Lucy Jones, Hunter Godwin and Juliana Jones. She is also survived by her brother, Al von Seeberg and his wife Wanda. She had many loving nieces and nephews who were close to her heart – especially Sherry Bearry, who was always there for her. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley Johnson and brother John Paul Logan.
The family will greet friends at a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Allen Family Funeral Options.
Betty will be laid to rest at 10:15 am on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, Texas 75211. A memorial service will follow at 12:15 pm at the Cowboy Church of Collin County 2800 FM3364, Princeton Texas 75407 with Pastor Wes Brown officiating.
