Becky Jaczak was born on September 9, 1959 in Downers Grove, Illinois to Owen and Mary (Andriano) Dehlinger. Much like she lived, she was surrounded by her loving family when she was born into eternal life on October 8, 2020 in Murphy, Texas.
Becky was a dear and wonderful sister to Karen, Russ, Leigh, Mark, and Nancy, as well as an outstanding daughter. She was born to nurture others and had a heart of gold. She was never the troublemaker and always wanted to be the peacemaker. From a young age, she was responsible, an excellent student, and always very humble.
Becky graduated from Downers Grove South High School in 1977. Always having a passion for health and wellness, she attended Lewis University and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Dietetics and Nutrition.
While she was in college, she had her first date with Bob Jaczak. Becky and Bob grew up in the same area and were in the same 4th grade class. They celebrated 33 beautiful years of marriage in August of 2020. Becky was a wonderful wife, devoted to enjoying the simple things and moments with Bob.
Becky and Bob had two children: Alex (29) and Lauren (27). Becky lovingly devoted her life to raising Alex and Lauren. She was the ultimate mom, whether it was walking her kids to school, cooking a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and dinner from scratch, or reading each night until the kids fell asleep. Becky blessed her family with love in big and small ways, every day.
In addition to raising Alex & Lauren, Becky was the best homemaker. Anyone who entered The Jaczak’s home knew that Becky was behind the “magic” of it. She always worked hard to keep her home clean, neat, and cozily decorated. She celebrated life and decorated the house for every season, even the small ones, like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s. There were always warm special touches, like Susan Branch’s cookbooks, her children’s art, family pictures, and decor scattered throughout and the smell of home-cooked dinner. Becky’s “magic” made the house a home. She was the “heart” of the family.
Through and through, family was the most important thing to Becky. She had a servant’s heart and centered her life around others. Her days were filled with phone calls with family and friends. She was always listening, always there for others. She never lost sight of the people in her life and made them her highest priority.
Becky was a fighter and dealt with more adversity than most. Despite a healthy diet and active lifestyle, she battled several health issues, including breast cancer in 2004. She was declared cancer-free, but in June of 2020, she was sadly diagnosed with recurrent stage 4 breast cancer. She fought through this pain with admirable courage, strength, and spirit. She never lost sight of what was most important to her, which was being there for her family. Cancer is a disease that attempts to gain complete control, but Becky was never defined by cancer. She concluded her battle with cancer by beating it in spirit, strength, and love, even when it had taken her life.
Becky will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband Bob Jaczak; children Alex and Lauren Jaczak; father Owen Dehlinger and his wife Helga; siblings Russ Dehlinger and his wife Nancy, Leigh Cofrin and her husband John, Mark Dehlinger and his wife Rai, Nancy Karel and her husband Brian; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Dehlinger and her sister Karen Nies.
Becky will always be remembered for the way she lived each day, with love.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
