Bart Milton Trapp, 80, of McKinney went home to be with the Lord on Thursday October 17, 2024. He was born on February 16, 1944, in Brownsville, Texas to parents Milton Alfred and Anna Imogene (Wooldridge) Trapp.
Bart grew up in Miami Springs, Florida, where he enjoyed his early days outside playing his three favorite sports - golf, football and baseball. During that time, he once found a baby alligator and brought it home to live in his bathtub…to the stark dismay and objections from his mother.
He received a congressional appointment to West Point (and later transferred to University of Florida). Bart Milton and Patricia A. (Gontrum) Trapp married on April 21, 1967, in Gainesville, Florida where they met as students at the University of Florida amid the Presbyterian Student Center. Bart graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s in Physics. He initially pursued a doctorate, but decided he would rather join the business world and work in the corporate realm of Telecommunications for over 35 years. He started working at AT&T in New York City specializing in management and planning, later taking a job with GTE/Verizon in Indiana and transferring to Dallas where he eventually became Director of Operations.
He enjoyed running, reading, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events - never failing to take them to church every week to help them grow in faith and conscience. Bart ran in over 20 marathons spanning 5 different continents, including North and South America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. The gold medals and framed photographs draping his home office tell that story better than words.
Bart is survived by his daughter Jonna Figurell and her husband Ric of Frisco, Texas, sons Bart P. Trapp of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and Kevin Trapp and his wife Allison of El Dorado Hills, California and his sister, Jackie of Gainesville, Florida. He also leaves behind 8 adoring grandchildren including Josh, Jacob, Zachary, Jared, Ricky, Gina, Nicholas and Adele. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia A., parents Milton (Grandaddy) and Imogene (Nonnie) of Miami Springs, Florida.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday November 1, 2024, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Pecan Grove Cemetery, 1701 S. McDonald, Mc Kinney, Texas with Pastor Tyrone Johnson officiating.
