Barbara Solly was born 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Bernard and Mary (Hopkins) Maguire.
She was one of 6 children. In 1967 she met the love of her life and future husband, Dave. They were married in 1968 and had a daughter, Valerie in 1969. In 1970 the family moved to Georgia and had a son, David in 1971. She was an amazing mother. After living some time in North Carolina, the family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1984 where she spent the rest of her days.
Despite growing up in Philadelphia, Barb was a lifelong Cowboys fan and loved cheering them on. Sundays and Thanksgiving holidays were scheduled around the game time.
Barb held several jobs throughout her lifetime. Most important to her were the jobs, and friends made, at Connor’s Flowers and as a pharmacy technician at Medical City Plano. She made friends wherever she went and truly brought joy to these jobs.
Once she retired, she stayed busy as ever, spending time with friends and family, playing golf with her “Gals” in Golf group, playing cards with her friends and leading the neighborhood book club. She was the life and leader of the party. She loved planning and hosting get-togethers with her friends and family. Barb had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor and absolutely loved to make people laugh.
Her favorite title was Grandma to her 3 grandchildren and “Grandma Barb” to many more. Most recently, she became Gigi to her great granddaughter Emerson, who was the light of her life. She loved with her whole heart and always made the children in her life feel special. She leaves a large hole that will be difficult to fill.
Barb is survived by her husband Dave Solly; children Valerie Cox and David Solly and his wife Christine; grandchildren Jordan Howery and her husband Ryan, Sidney Cox and Abraham Cox; great granddaughter Emerson Ann Howery; siblings Brian Maguire and his wife Kathy, Kevin Maguire and his partner Mark Hill and Eileen Undorfer and her husband Fran.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Patricia Mc Shane and Bernadette Mc Mahon.
