Barbara Lourene Kuncl

March 8, 1936 — February 28, 2023

Barbara Lourene Limbaugh Kuncl of Plano, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior February 28, 2023. She was born in Cooter, Missouri on March 8, 1936.

She graduated from Central Missouri State University and held many interesting jobs. She worked as a high school art teacher, as a window designer for Macy’s Department Store, and as an instructional filmmaker for the American Institute of Biological Science, until finally opening her own poodle skirt business, Pookey Snoo.

The films she made are groundbreaking and are stored for posterity at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. She was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church and sang as a member of the choir for several years. She was most happy spending time with her husband and family or giving treats to her grand dogs, Missy May Scott and Puddin Burrage. She loved history and spent hours discussing the intricacies of the Tudor Age, her favorite, with her daughter Courtney.

Barbara loved to make up stories to entertain her granddaughters Hadley and Kaylee, especially the mischievous tales of Lori Beth. She loved to read and write stories of her family history and was especially proud of the book she published on the Limbaugh Family. Her greatest joy was diving into her family genealogy and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. One of her proudest genealogical finds was locating the first plot of land owned by Limbaugh’s after immigrating to America and she traveled to Pennsylvania to stand on it. Barbara loved to travel and went on numerous trips with her family. Her love of history and genealogy meant that every trip included every nearby graveyard, much to the exasperation of her young granddaughters.

She also loved to spend time walking through art museums and history museums. She never lost her thirst for knowledge. She always put Christ first and brought numerous people to know the Lord. She was a fierce prayer warrior and if you asked her to pray for you it would be done. She would pray for you “from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.” She was extremely generous and compassionate towards friends and strangers alike, and happily gave to those in need. She touched the lives of so many that her legacy will reach generations.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Kellee Scott of Frisco, Texas and Courtney Kuncl-Burrage of Plano, Texas, sons-in-law Monty Scott and Robert Burrage, her granddaughters Hadley Pearson and Kaylee Scott and her grandson-in-law Macon Pearson, her sister Anna Marie Keyser of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and her brother-in-law Daniel J. Keyser, and her niece Dana Keyser Gerstner and nephew-in-law Todd Gerstner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert (Bob) Kuncl, her parents, Julius Hadley Limbaugh and Lorene Johnson Limbaugh, and her brother, Julius Leonard Limbaugh.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. for visitation and a celebration of Barbara’s life service will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options.
