Barbara Elaine Bossie, born on October 6, 1938, in Charleston, West Virginia, was peacefully called to her eternal home on April 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Barbara’s life was full of passion, creativity, and service to others. She spent her youth in Saint Albans, West Virginia, where her strong values and deep faith took root. Throughout her life, Barbara found great joy in traveling with her beloved husband, Burven, exploring new places and making cherished memories together. She built a successful career as an executive assistant, known for her dedication, professionalism, and warm spirit. Outside of her work, her greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren, creating and appreciating beautiful art, and filling her home with music from her beloved piano. Barbara had a remarkable gift for bringing beauty into every space she touched. Her passion for music, her artistry, and her unwavering faith were reflected in her lifelong involvement with her church community, where she found both purpose and fellowship.
Barbara was the matriarch and guiding light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her time on this earth was a beautiful testimony to love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. She lived every day with a heart full of grace, kindness, and an unshakable devotion to her family and her faith.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 58 years, Burven Bossie, their children: Scott, Kim, Blair, Kelli, Kristi, and Brandi and a sister, Jean Greeson. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Barry, her cherished parents Albert and Gladys McClure, and her dear brothers Ronnie and Bobby.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jesse, Jaden, Zachary, Elijah, Sarah, Katie, and Rachel; her great-grandson Jack; and her nephews and nieces: Bobby, Mark, Mike, Debi, Kenny, and Gina.
Those who knew Barbara describe her as loving, kind, thoughtful, and selfless, always placing God first in every aspect of her life. Her memory will remain a source of inspiration and comfort to all who were blessed to be part of her extraordinary journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., (CST) at Richardson Church of the Nazarene.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara’s name to the Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation.
