Armandina Ruiz Cady

June 28, 1945 — October 9, 2025

Plano

Armandina Ruiz Cady, affectionately known as “Armi,” passed away on October 9, 2025, in Plano, Texas at the age of 80 due to complications from viral encephalitis and strokes. Born in Laredo, Texas on June 28, 1945, to Sostenes Ruiz, Jr. and Armandina Lopez, she was a dedicated wife, a devoted mother, a passionate teacher of young children, and a giver to everyone she met.

Armi graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and spent over 30 years shaping young children’s minds as an educator. Her students and other teachers knew her, not only for her devotion, care, and unwavering belief in the children’s potential, but also her desire to help their families.

She shared a 54-year committed marriage with her husband, Bruce Allan Cady. Together, they raised two children, Melissa and Bryan, who both attended her alma mater and continue to work and reside in Austin.

Armi was known for her generosity, smile, support, and unconditional love she poured into—not only her family—but toward others, as if they were her “familia.” There are truly countless circles of friends across the world that have been created and touched by her through her endless commitment to reconnecting with them. She always remembered their birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and other important dates. Her giving heart knew no boundaries.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Allan Cady; her son, Bryan Ruiz Cady and daughter, Melissa Ruiz Cady-Jackson and husband, Corey Jackson; her "grandpets", Coco, Zeke, Rico, Sandy, and Roo; and her brother, Roberto Ruiz.

A Memorial Mass Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Plano, Texas.
