Antje Jestina Wilson-Duncan, fondly called Toni by family and friends, was born on April 30, 1973 in Tehran, while her parents were on a year long business contract in Persia. Toni (Antje) was born to German Mother, Antje Wilson, and English Jamaican Father, Winston Denni Sylvester Wilson.
Toni grew up in several countries including England and Jamaica which enabled her to easily adapt to any environment and make friends of all cultures. Inheriting her father's engineering skills, Toni (Antje) was always mechanically inclined and loved fixing things whether it was fixing the fridge, changing the car oil, a remodeling project or fixing the kids "bad grammar". She always challenged herself to learn new things and instilled curiosity and the importance of education in her children. Toni was a very spiritual person and enjoyed sharing her motivational quote of the day. She was an avid runner, loved helping and giving back to the community and treasured family above all else. Family meant more to her than just blood relatives and she welcomed anyone into her home and heart.
Toni is survived by her sons Darryl Damon Duncan, 24 years and Dominique DAntje Duncan, 21 years. Her mother Antje Wilson, her sister Helen Stephens, brother-in-law Marcus Stephens, her brothers Stephen Wilson, Winston Denni Wilson and Robere Wilson, her nieces Summer Stephens and Abigail Wilson, and nephews Miles Stephens and Dante Wilson. She is also missed and loved by many cousins in Germany and England.
Toni joins in heaven her daughter Antje Jestina Leen Duncan who passed during the first year of her life, her father Winston Denni Sylvester Wilson who passed in January 2006, her Brother Denni Wilson and her brother Karl-Friedrich Wilson who also passed the first year of his life.
Words from Toni's Family.
I love how goofy my mother could be when talking to my brother and I about our love lives, our friendships and about our interests. I adore that she was a nerd for Dr. Who and played video games with us. She always made me feel understood. She was unyielding when she made up her mind to accomplish a task and taught us to never give up. I disliked but valued all the discipline and life lessons she taught me like doing my own laundry, cooking my own meals and table etiquette in case I ever had to dine with the Queen. Most of all I value how she always fought for us and got stuff done.
-Love You Mom with All My Heart, Little Darryl.
I love how giving my mother was. She would give her all to help others even if she barely knew them despite having a lot on her plate. I also love how my mom would always encourage me to explore and be curious. I love how my mom always genuinely wanted to know more about my hobbies like booking a flight to San Diego and going to the Comic-Con with me. She was always engaged listening and ask questions about my hobbies and my life. I love how much my mom treasured family. Building a family that can support each other in both good and bad times has always been without a doubt her foremost desire.
-I'll Always Remember the Love and Compassion That You Taught Me, Dominique.
My daughter was a very compassionate person who helped others without asking for anything in return. She opened her heart to whomever needed her help and gave of herself to a fault. As a mother, one of my most treasured memories is when Toni and my other daughter were 5 and 7 years old. They overheard me in a conversation say I don't have money. The next morning Toni and my other daughter gathered all the used magazines in the house and went next door to the neighbors to sell them so they could have money for me. I was so touched when the neighbors told me. All my daughter ever wanted was to be loved and helpful to others and I am taking that love with me forever.
-You Are Always with Me in My Heart, Love Mom
Some people are just born with that special quality we call je ne sais quoi. My sister Toni was the perfect example. The enigmatic energy she exuded when she entered a room, the way people were drawn to her when she looked at you with her green eyes and smiles, her natural inner beauty complimented by her 5'11" modalisque frame was surpassed only by her intelligence and compassion. My baby sister had such a positive impact and touched so many lives. She will live on through our treasured memories and I will think of her with a smile every day. May your soul find eternal peace and prosperity!
- Love Always, Helen
