Anthony Dueitt Powers

March 6, 1965 — January 27, 2023

David Anthony Dueitt Powers was born on March 6, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Dalton and Jacqueline (Wolf) Dueitt. We lost Anthony peacefully and at home in the early morning hours of January 27, 2023, after battling Chronic Long Covid for over two years.

Anthony grew up in Mississippi with his younger brother, Danny, and twin younger sisters Debra and Deanna. He graduated from Our Lady of Victories (OLV) high school in 1983, then went on to many years in college. He graduated from Mississippi State University with degrees in Philosophy, Psychology and Industrial Psychology, finishing in 1995. While in college, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and is still a fan of the Bulldogs.

He started his career in the world of staffing and recruiting in 1996 after moving to Dallas. His natural ability to connect with people and his loyalty helped him stand out in his field. He worked for a variety of companies, often taking coworkers with him from organization to organization. In 2011 he accepted a position with Google that had the family move to Sunnyvale, California. They spent 3 years there until a position with Yahoo allowed them to move back to Plano. He joined the Amazon family in 2016 and was on short-term disability with them at the time of his passing.

Anthony met Ron-Michael Powers in April of 2001. By that July they were engaged and had a civil union ceremony in Vermont on October 12, 2002. Once the rest of the country caught up, they had a legal wedding ceremony in Dallas on April 12, 2016, the 15 th anniversary of their first date. Both Anthony and Ron-Michael were family oriented, which is why after extensive research, they set out on the path for adoption. Their son, Nathaniel (Nathan) Rowe Dueitt Powers was born on October 15, 2004. They received his picture and information on October 15, and started working to bring him home. January 17, 2005, was his “Gotcha Day”, when Anthony and Ron-Michael were finally able to hold him in person and bring him home from Guatemala.

As a family, they were able to travel extensively, most recently spending three weeks in Europe visiting London, Scotland, Norway and Iceland. Their annual trips to South Padre Island were his rejuvenating respites from the stresses of work; but spending time with family and friends was always a priority. Even after Covid hit, setting up dinners in driveways with friends and neighbors, zoom chats with cousins, and game nights with family became mainstays.

Anthony is survived by his husband, Ron-Michael Powers and their son, Nathan. His parents, Dalton and Jacqueline Dueitt, his brother Danny Dueitt, his sisters Deanna Aiken-Roskowske and Debra Rea and their extended families.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 10 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Faith Formation Center 3100 W Spring Creek Parkway, Monsignor Henry V. Petter, celebrant.  If you wish to join the mass via webcast, please visit: https://youtube.com/live/ovXQOBObjvA?feature=share
