Angela Parker

Angela Parker, born on May 4, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital in Richardson, Texas, on September 2, 2026, following a courageous battle to get well and return to the life she loved. Angela was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, whose warmth and compassion touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Angela was the cherished daughter of the late Kenneth Edward Parker and Virginia Marie Adlen, who predeceased her. She is survived by her devoted sister, Denise, and her favorite brother-in-law, Leo Matulewski. Angela was also a loving aunt to her niece, Shanti Emily Michele Matulewski, and a proud great-aunt to Kaya Serene Matulewski-Carter and Eva Marie Matulewski-Carter, who brought immense joy to her life.

Angela's journey of faith and service began when she joined the Franciscan order of Bernadine Sisters, serving from 1965 until 1983. Throughout her life in the Dallas area, she was an active member of her community, participating in and leading several Ministries, including CCD, Liturgy, and Peace and Justice at both Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and Our Lady of Angels parishes.

A dedicated educator, Angela graduated from Alvernia College in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1968. She devoted her life to teaching, beginning as a second-grade teacher and later serving as the principal at St. Rita's Catholic School in Dallas. Recognizing the importance of specialized education, Angela became a specialist in dyslexia and served as the dyslexia coordinator for the Lewisville School District. Her commitment to lifelong learning was evident in her continued study of Liturgy.

Angela found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved tending to her garden, where she delighted in the presence of birds. She looked forward to traveling and adventures with her family and friends. She cherished her Book Chat monthly luncheons. She enjoyed going to the theatre, live music, museums, and games. She found solace and community with her friends at Our Lady of Angels parish, especially during the Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass.

Angela will be remembered for her immense love and kindness, which she freely shared with everyone she encountered. Her faith was her guiding light, and it imbued her with a joy that was both intrinsic and inspiring.

A memorial service to celebrate Angela's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2026, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, located at 1914 Ridgeview Dr., Allen, Texas 75013.
