Anahit Simonyan, 81, died peacefully in the presence of her loving sons and grandson at a hospital in Plano, Texas on Friday, July 30, 2021.
Born on February 5, 1940, in Yerevan, Armenia to Vahan Simonyan and Areg Haroutunyan, Anahit was the second daughter followed by two siblings. Her mother, Areg, was a survivor of 1915 Armenian genocide. Anahit graduated high school in Yerevan, Armenia. She then studied Biochemistry at the Armenia State University. Upon graduation, she started her work in the Institute of Organic Chemistry where she met the love of her life and future husband of 53 years, Elmir Gevorgyan. After giving birth to two sons, Vahan and Vahagn, she continued her career as the lead standardization engineer in the Plastic, LLC in Yerevan. The rest of her professional life was spent working in the same enterprise until subsequently retiring and moving to the U.S with her husband where she lived happily near her sons and grandchildren.
Anahit is survived by her sons, Vahan and Vahagn; daughters-in-law, Mara and Iryna; grandchildren, Anaida, Levon, Ara, Aram and Mikael and sisters, Laura and Nvard.
Anahit was a respected member of the community and devoted all her life to the betterment of those around her.
