Amy Renee O'Roark

February 14, 1973 — May 10, 2021

Amy Renee (Jackson) O’Roark was born on Valentine’s Day 1973 in Dover Delaware. She grew up with her mother and father, Faye and Charlie Jackson, on the family farm in Smyrna, Delaware surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins. She often spoke of corn forts and tractors and the wonder of being on the farm.

She attended Smyrna High School and was an accomplished athlete holding records in Shot Put and Discus.

After high school, Amy moved to Valdosta and attended Valdosta State College.  While in Valdosta she tried her hand at several careers. These included everything from rural newspaper delivery, tobacco representative, convenience store manager, and production coordinator for a home builder.

Then, Amy met her husband, Pat, and turned down a different path. She reconnected with family in South Carolina.  She made trips and spent vacations there. They married in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and started planning for a family. And in Nov 2003, their son Logan was born. He was to be her light.  As Logan approached school age, the family moved to Naylor, Georgia. She became a member of the Naylor Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered at her son’s school and became a Cub Scout Leader. Amy was involved in every day camp, camp out and event that she could. The parents of her Den even had a plaque dropped in by parachute by Moody Airforce Base PJ’s naming her the Greatest Den Leader. And, she completed Wood Badge with the Boy Scouts as an Owl.

Shortly after that, due to the recession, the family relocated to Allen, Texas. Allen was chosen due to it academic quality for Logan’s education and his desire to someday play in the giant stadium.  This past year, she saw that take place.

When the family landed in Allen, her night owl habits lead her to form friendships with many like minded people. She would often sit out on the landing with neighbors until the wee hours of the morning. It was this schedule that led her to various positions at Walmart. She held several positions, worked in more than one location and made many wonderful friendships.

In April, she contracted Covid, and after finally beating the fever, she couldn’t get past the complications with her asthma. Amy thought she had improved and began to inquire about returning to work. But, suddenly on the evening of May 10 th , she was gone.

Amy leaves behind her husband, Pat and her son, Logan.  She will be missed and mourned by family and friends from Texas to Delaware.

There will be an Afternoon of Remembrance from Noon - 3:00pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Allen Family Funeral Options.

At 2:00pm the family will gather to share some Words of Remembrances.
