Allan Ray Rasor

September 21, 1959 — March 14, 2023

Allan Ray Rasor, a retired firefighter, beloved father and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, at the age of 63. He was born in Dallas, Texas on September 21, 1959, and was the second of three children.

Allan graduated from North Garland High School in 1978.  He continued his education at Richland College and UT-Southwestern Medical Center. Working his way through school, Allan made cowboy hats at the Stetson factory in Garland, Texas.  He also worked as a farmhand in Quinlan, Texas, before finding his passion as a Plano Firefighter & EMT.

“Rasor”, as he was better known around the station, started his career at Plano Fire-Rescue in 1984 as a member of Recruit Class #7. He was proud to serve the community. During his tenure with the department, he received the distinguished Lifesaving Award, was twice named EMT of the Year, and was a five-time member of the Unit of the Year.  He worked for the city until he retired in 2013, after 29 years of service.

Allan was a mild-mannered country boy whose quiet strength and commanding presence let people know they could count on him. He was a man of few words, but behind that solid, distinct twang was a golden heart. Throughout his life, Allan enjoyed many different hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding. In 2022 Allan moved to Plano, Texas to be closer to loved ones. He spent the last year of his life surrounded by new friends and his growing family.

Allan is survived by his two children, Sabrina LaTorre and Randall Rasor; his former wife, Carolyn Harrod; grandchildren, Luka & Remi LaTorre; sister, Pam Halsey; nieces, Lauren Rasor, Kelsey Shiflet, Jocelyn Rasor and sister-in-law Glynn Rasor; grand-nephew Ryder Vega; children-in-law Julian LaTorre and Ariana Rasor; extended family, Rob Harrod, Carolyn Loss-Culter; the Kirks, McRobbie's, Holts, LaTorre’s and his dog, Radar. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin Rasor and Joyce Hyman Rasor, brother Charles Rasor and granddaughter Tasha LaTorre.

Allan's dedication to serving others and his sense of humor will be deeply missed.
