Alison Refior Miller

October 14, 1978 — January 5, 2022

Alison Joy Miller went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2022.

Alison was born in Rochester, Minnesota on October 14, 1978, to Lee and Barbara Refior. She met the love of her life, Toby Miller, and they were married September 7, 2019.  She was a Recruiting Coordinator with Peoplescout. With her devoted husband, she lived in Dallas, Texas and was a member at Prestonwood Baptist Church.

Growing up in Rochester, Minnesota, Alison enjoyed a close family relationship with her parents and older sisters, Kris and Tami. She was fittingly bestowed the middle name “Joy” and lived up to it, as she radiated such happiness to those around her. She enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Rochester with many outdoor activities like biking, catching fireflies, picnics and trips to the park to feed the geese. She learned to play the flute as well as figure skate and participated in many ice-skating shows at the Rochester Recreation Center.

She attended Mayo High School where she graduated in 1997. She played flute in the marching band throughout her high school years. She went on to study at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida and received her degree in 2003.

Early on in Alison’s career, she was a pastoral administrative assistant at Carrollton Baptist Church. She was a manager at Things Remembered and Massage Envy before becoming an Onboarding Specialist for Crossmark. Quite recently, Alison had accepted a new job with Peoplescout as a Recruiting Coordinator.

Alison highly valued and enjoyed being involved in her church. She cherished her time as a teen Sunday school group leader at Prestonwood Baptist Church. She played flute in the church orchestra, was on a greeting team, and served with the audio/visual team at Watermark Community Church Plano.

Alison loved spending time with family, going to concerts, playing games, baking, crafts and audio books. Her laughter was contagious and matched her bubbly personality.

Patiently waiting on the Lord's timing, in 2014, Alison met Toby, the love of her life. Toby and Alison spent five years dating, going on fun outings, and growing together as a couple as well as growing closer together in the Lord. As their relationship grew, they knew the Lord was blessing their desire to be united in marriage. Toby asked Alison to be his wife on Christmas Day, 2018. Though they had just a few years of married life together, her husband describes it as “a lifetime of joy”. Alison loved Toby dearly and was so thankful that the Lord brought him into her life. God blessed them both with His love and grace.

Alison was a cancer survivor, having had non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2010. After many months of fighting through chemotherapy and radiation, God brought healing into her life and she was cancer free.

Alison loved the Lord, her husband, her family and the life she was blessed with. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. She was loving and loyal to her family, kind and generous to others, and always radiated the joy of the Lord to everyone around her.

Alison is survived by her loving husband Toby Miller; parents Lee and Barbara Refior; sisters Kris Lafon and her husband Dan, Tami Hill and her husband Greg; nieces and nephews Bri and Bailey Lafon, Andrew and Emily Hill; mother-in-law Laura Miller and brother-in-law David Miller and his wife Paula.

There will be a service to celebrate Alison’s life, Friday, January 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Prestonwood Baptist Church, Faith Chapel, 6801 W Park, Plano, Texas with Pastor Neal Jeffrey officiating.

Alison will be laid to rest at Ridgeview West Memorial Park.
