James (Jimmy) Wood was born May 14, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas to Ralph Omer Wood and Dollie Sunshine Byard Wood. He left this life on June 5, 2010 after a brief illness.
He was a resident of The Corinthians Retirement Home in Carrollton, Texas and leaves behind his wife Lila Wood. He has two siblings still living, Monty Wood and Juanita Files. He was preceded in death by Brother Don Wood and sister, Wanda Anderson.

He is survived by his wife Lila Wood, a son, Greg Wood of Plano, Texas and a daughter, Marsha Anderson of Dallas, Texas. There are six great grandchildren and one on the way. They are Jensen, Tanner, McKinley, Reagan and Brady Argyle and Coby Walker Brandt.

He also has two step-children that he became very close to during his 8 year marriage to Lila. They are Joyce Cofer and her husband Ray and Dean Coe and his wife Robin.

Jimmy was a World War II Veteran and instilled a strong sense of patriotism in his children. He received a head injury during his duties with his military service and lived most of his life with headaches but most people would never have known because he always had such a positive and happy attitude and a love of life. Anyone who knew him would say that they never heard him say a negative thing about anyone. He had an amazing sense of humor even until the very end. He was a very caring person, always thinking of others first.

He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years as a manager for the majority of that time and lived in several cities across west Texas. He retired from there around 1982 and lived at Pecan Plantation Country Club in Granbury, Texas where he enjoyed golf and cards with many friends. After moving to Carrollton, he still maintained the friendships he developed at Pecan Plantation.

A memorial service will be held to honor Jimmy's life on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Frisco Church of Christ, 8648 Main St., Frisco, Texas 75034. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery following the memorial service at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Jimmy would have wanted his friends and family to make donations to their favorite charities.
