Charles "Chick" Taylor

Charles (Chick) Taylor was born October 19, 1933 in Bolivar, Missouri. He moved to Parsons, Kansas with his family in 1941. He was involved in high school sports, playing basketball and football and graduated from Parson High School in 1952. Following high school, Chick attended La Quinta Christian College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for one year and Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas for two years.

Chick was drafted into the United States Navy as a Seaman on December 9, 1955 and served in active duty in the Navy during the Korean War until his discharge on November 26, 1957.

He moved to the Dallas area in 1958 and began working for Texas Instruments. He married Lois Ward on August 19, 1960 and they welcomed their only daughter Jan into this world on March the 4th, 1962. Chick held several positions at TI in his 31 years of service until his retirement in 1991. After retirement from TI, he worked part time at Plano Centre for approximately four years.

Chick played golf, tennis and basketball with TI friends for many years. After retirement Chick continued to golf on a weekly basis. He has played every Thursday at Pecan Hollow in Plano for over 20 years. Other hobbies of Chick's included woodworking, jigsaw puzzles and card games (especially Pitch - a Taylor family tradition).

Chick loved to travel with his wife Lois and extended family. He has traveled to many states including Alaska and Hawaii as well as to many foreign countries including Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Great Britain, Switzerland, Scotland, Belgium, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Canada and many of the Caribbean Islands.

Chick also enjoyed his family and his grandchildren. He attended family reunions on a regular basis and traveled to Kansas and Missouri frequently to visit family. He cared for his eldest grandson Bryce as a babysitter for the first three months of his life and continued to babysit two days per week until Bryce started school. He enjoyed playing games, helping with craft projects and spending time with Bryce and his other grandson Kyle.

On August 23, 2010 Chick passed away in Richardson, Texas with his family at his side. The family will greet friends at a visitation on Thursday morning August 26, 2010 from 9:30-10:30 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1801 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. and Chick will be laid to rest at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Cemetery on Thursday afternoon.

Chick's legacy will live on through his family and friends who knew and loved him most.
