Matthew Richard Rooney

Matthew Richard Rooney was welcomed into the world on December, 10 1986 to parents Steve and Lauren Rooney. He grew up and went to school in McKinney, TX. Matt will be remembered for his infectious laugh, bright smile and beautiful eyes. Matt enjoyed listening to music, skateboarding, long boarding and watching movies. But one thing that brought him most joy was fishing with his dad. Many Rockport fishing memories were made over the years!

As a young boy his life revolved around sports from his early days of team baseball, where his mom was his biggest fan to watching his favorite team - The Dallas Cowboys - play each Sunday. As he grew older he started playing golf with his granddad - and boy, could he hit the ball! He loved the ocean, beach, playing his guitar and his constant companion, an 8 lb. Chihuahua named Lucky.

Matt was surrounded by a huge loving family - Sunday night family dinners, birthday parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas were a big part of what made him happy. Matt was a great big brother to his sister Brittani and took care of her along with a good share of teasing. In addition to being survived by his parents and sister are his paternal grandfather, Michael Rooney, paternal grandmother, Gwen Rooney, maternal grandparents, Dick and Kay Griffith, many aunts, uncles and cousins, Joe, Barbara, Briana and Chelsea Rooney, Mark, Adrienne, Amanda and Olivia Rooney, Mike Rooney, Mary, Kyle, Chris and Joe Tawil, Kathleen Rooney, Kristen, John, Brennan and Leighton Barnes, Roger, Roger Jr., and Tyler Griffith, Pete, Diana, Justin, Nina, Patrick and Christian Griffith, Molly Griffith.

Although he left us way too early, we will have many fond memories and pictures to keep him close to us forever. Be at peace, Matt

A memorial service to celebrate Matt's life will be held Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 10:00am at TPC Craig Ranch, 8000 Collin McKinney Pkwy., McKinney, TX.


Memorial Fund -
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be set up for the family.
A temporary account will be set up at Chase Bank beginning September 15th and continuing for the next 30 days through October 15th. At that time, the fund will be presented to the family with the names of all of the contributors.
