Rachel M Ramos

February 8, 1928 — September 26, 2009

Rachel Mendoza Ramos was born in the small township of Independence Kansas on Feb 8, 1928 and went to be with her Lord and Reedeemer on Sep 26, 2009.

Her first childhood home was in a small knit Mexican community near the local cement plant. Since this community was removed from the actual city of Independence and especially in the difficult times of the depression era, this allowed them to raise their own chickens, pigs and even some cows. Her family dealt with the tragedies of losing sisters and brothers to various illnesses and mishaps. Due to this upbringing and learning self sufficiency in her family life this forged a strong determinition and quiet strength that carried her through all the seasons of her life.

In her older grade school years Rachel was extremely pleased that her dad was able to move their family to Independence where she started a new chapter in her life. The family could now enjoy some of the city attractions and other activities.

Later in life she became more independent and moved in with her sister, in the big city of Wichita. During this time, she nurtured her relationship with her future husband, Raul Ramos, whom she met while attending The Fiesta in Chanute, Kansas. They were married on May 10, 1958. She followed her husband through many job opportunities in Bartlesville, OK, Kansas City, Kansas and finally Omaha, Nebraska. This was the season of her life where she raised her children.

Her major life changing event occurred during the early eighties; where she found herself in Texas becoming more independent than ever before. This is when she realized and acknowledged her faith in Jesus.

After retiring in 1998 she was able to truly love on and enjoy her grandkids Erin Kaitlyn, Emily Paige and Carmen Marie. They brought much joy to her later years. Although her passing is difficult, we find great comfort in knowing that because of our faith in Jesus Christ, we will be reunited with her again in Heaven.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Rita Marie Hillhouse, son, Richard Anthony Ramos, son, Raul Ramos, son and daughter in law, Ron and Cindy Ramos and her three beautiful granddaughters.

An evening of remembrance will be held at Allen Family Funeral Options on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 6:00-8:00 p.m. A mass will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas. Rachel will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas.
