John Michael Plavier was born on March 9, 1960 in Paterson, New Jersey to parents John and Marion Plavier. God called him home on the morning of July 29, 2010. John passed peacefully with his loving wife Tammy and his two devoted dogs Buddy and Barney at his side.
John and Tammy were not only husband and wife, but best friends as well. They were married on May 25, 1996, one year after they first met. John knew it was love at first sight with him and Tammy, and after four hours of amazing conversation on that first date, he told her he loved her. Tammy and John made many wonderful memories together. One of their most favorite pastimes was fishing and boating with Buddy and Barney. While John dearly loved his dogs, he also had a soft heart for all animals. One time, John shot a black bird in his yard with his BB gun. After the bird fell to the ground, John felt horrible. He walked to the bird, picked it up, told it he was sorry and then proceeded to have a funeral and burial for it. John had a heart of gold that was enhanced by a deep sensitivity. He spent many nights watching the Lifetime Movie channel with Tammy. He also enjoyed watching investigative documentaries and was a huge fan of Motown music.
Professionally, John worked for Midas as an automotive technician both in New Jersey and Texas. He gave approximately 30 years of his life to this job he loved. John was very talented at fixing things. He especially enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together just to have the satisfaction of knowing how they worked. In spite of his tall, thin frame John was a strong man and was capable of doing anything he set his mind to.
John loved his family and leaves behind his loving wife Tammy, daughter Jamie Matari and her husband Riyad, two grandchildren Kayla and Samir, sisters Maureen McHale, Jeanne Longo, Joan Royer, many nieces and nephews (whom he loved to tease) and his two beloved dogs Buddy and Barney. John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Patty Plavier and another beloved dog Duke.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Sunday, August 1, 2010 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. John's life will be remembered and honored at a funeral service on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Hunters Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Rd., Plano, Texas 75023 with Dr. Kim Hall and Pastor Ed Fleming officiating. John will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri.
