Scotty Earl Nicholson was born on July 25, 1944 in Plano, Texas to
parents Leo Nicholson and Edna Earl Leach Nicholson. He grew up in
Collin County, the youngest of four boys and graduated from Plano
High School in 1962. Scotty was patriotic, loved his country and
served in the United States Air Force Reserve for six years. He was
a graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington earning a bachelors
degree in business. On January 9, 1971 Scotty married the love of his
life, Martha Preis. They were married in Dallas and began their lives
together there and were blessed with the births of their three children
Kim in 1975, Todd in 1977 and Karlie in 1978 while living there. In
1979 Scotty accepted a position in sales with Louis Business Products,
now known as Xact Business Solutions and has been a valued member
of that company since. Scotty, Martha and their children moved to
Coppell in 1980 and enjoyed their lives together there. He was a loyal
fan of the Dallas Cowboys and was a season ticket holder for many
years. He was passionate about the things he considered important
and always considered the spiritual aspect of his life as the most
important part of his being. Scotty was a strong Christian man who
was loyal and faithful to his beliefs. He also had a very warm and
genuine side to his personality was funny, fun-loving and friendly. He
was a true gentleman and his considerate, caring and generous
personality were evident to anyone he met. It has been said that
Scotty was the "glue" in his large extended family. Whether you knew
Scotty as husband, Daddy, Granddaddy, brother, co-worker or friend
you will forever remember his friendly, fun-loving ways and his
warm and genuine smile.
On October 14, 2009, Scotty was suddenly and unexpectedly called
by his personal Lord and Savior to live in his eternal home.
Scotty was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his
loving wife Martha, children, Kim Iltis and husband Ryan, Todd
Nicholson and wife Libby, Karlie Sanson and husband Bryan,
grandchildren, Carson, Caroline and Cadie Iltis, Peyton Nicholson,
Luke and Brett Sanson, brothers and sisters-in-law, Randall and
Zada Nicholson, Norman and Trudy Nicholson, Larry and Rebie
Nicholson and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 16,
2009 at Farmers Branch Church of Christ, 3035 Valley View Lane,
Dallas, Texas 75234. A funeral service to celebrate Scotty's life will be
held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Farmers Branch
Church of Christ. Scotty will be laid to rest at Rolling Oaks Memorial
Park, Coppell, Texas.
