Edward Francis Meskunas was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on September 25, 1935 to parents Walter and Anna Meskunas. He spent his youth growing up in the Scranton area attending Thomas Jefferson Grade School, North Scranton Jr. High, Central High School and in June of 1957 earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton. Upon graduation, Edward entered a long time career in the United States Army, working for most of his many years in military law enforcement and earned the rank of Lt. Col. He married his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Louise "Penny" O'Neil on June 23, 1962 in Ft. Monroe, Virginia. Edward enjoyed fishing and reading but as he became older his passion grew more toward traveling, especially to Hawaii and Australia. Edward also enjoyed a nice evening out. His favorite was enjoying gourmet food, martinis at Steve Field's restaurant. Edward passed from this life on January 27, 2010 at his home in Plano, Texas. He is survived by his wife Penny, sons, Marty Meskunas, Alan Meskunas and wife Anna, Robert Meskunas and wife Laura, Michael Meskunas and wife Lana and John Meskunas. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Drive, Plano, Texas 75075. The Reverend John Libone, celebrant. A reception will follow at the Meskunas' home.
