Joe was born September 3, 1942 in Houston, Texas to parents Anthony Joseph Landry, Sr. and Augusta Summers Anderson Landry. Joe was a hard-working, dedicated and loving father and husband. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, building and flying RC airplanes, word working, computers, as well as coached all four of his daughters' softball teams.
He was a brilliant and inventive engineer with a keen eye for details, and his work ethic was without reproach. His career lead him around the world, but he never forgot his family. He always would make sure they had a little something to remember his trips, too. He left his imprint on all of those he touched-from the girls on his softball teams to the employees he managed. No one was without Joe's grace.
Above all, his ultimate goal was to raise fine, upstanding girls and retire with the love of his life, Mary Anne. He lived life to its fullest until an unfortunate accident slowly took away his ability to sustain his active life. Even after his accident, he still was able to take part in his family and enjoy his nine grandchildren. Joe will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Daddy, we will see you again.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Mary Anne Landry, daughters Ann Marie Tyler and husband Marty, Suzanne Marie Brewer and husband Kevin, Michelle Marie Van Schepen and husband Michael, Ashleigh Marie Landry, grandchildren Krystal, Breanna, Conley, Kelton, Cassidy, Cameron, Kalee, Bailey and Braelyn, brother Timothy S. Landry and wife Cathy. He also is survived by a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
There will be a vigil service on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023. A mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the The Reverend Monsignor Henry V. Petter, Celebrant. A reception will follow the mass in Parrish Hall. Joe will be laid to rest at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas.
God saw you getting tired,
and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
And whispered,
"Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we
watched you slowly fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we would not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
your hard-working
hands put to rest,
God broke our hearts
to prove to us
He only takes the best.
