Eunice King

Eunice Helen Berglund King was called home to heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer that involved several hospitalizations and extensive chemotherapy. She passed away peacefully in her home in The Colony, Texas on May 3, 2010. Her parents, George and Agnes Berglund, brothers Stanley, Eugene and Kent and sister Stella Berglund all preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert J. King and two married sons Steven and wife Melinda and Douglas and wife Angie King. Her four grandchildren, Rachael, Katie, Preston and Mark King were the pride and joy of her life. Her three surviving sisters are Thelma Bromander, Irene Johnson and Gladys Nelson. Many nieces and nephews survived her as well. Eunice was born in Fosston, Minnesota on September 7, 1940. She was very active in Fosston High School and was selected to represent the school at Girl's State and was chosen as the Homecoming Queen in her junior year. She received many honors as a soloist. She was a graduate of Bemidji State College. Eunice taught fourth grade for five years prior to her first son's birth and then dedicated herself exclusively to raising and nurturing her family. She was a very active volunteer during her sons' years in elementary and middle school coordinating fund raising events for various school projects. She taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for many years. Eunice will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A funeral service will be held in Eunice's honor Monday, May 10, 2010 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093, Pastor Joe Schofield, officiating. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
