Wayne T Johnson

February 14, 1928 — September 30, 2010

Early September 30, 2010 Wayne T. Johnson ended his earthly journey which began on Valentines Day 1928 in Superior Wisconsin. During his 82 years he touched countless lives. In his final days Wayne experienced the return of the love he so generously gave.

Wayne's formative years were spent in Superior, Wisconsin. Lake Superior provided the perfect environment for two of Wayne's favorite activities swimming and fishing. Immediately after high school graduation Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Military. Twenty-one years later he would retire from the Air Force having served in Europe and Asia and Stateside.

A flower shop owner, automotive work and security jobs were the various types of employment Wayne held. It was as a security guard at Republic Bank that he met the love of his life, Pat. He would say that the thirty-two years he shared with Pat were the best of his life.

Retirement after 65 was not a time to slow down rather a chance to spend time doing what he enjoyed and learning new things. In his seventies Wayne taught himself to use the P.C. The internet provided Wayne the opportunity to share jokes with more people and countless gaming options. Wayne enjoyed games especially playing bingo at the Plano Senior Center.

Other things Wayne really enjoyed were playing slots & poker cheering for his beloved Green Bay Packers but his favorite was any game he and his grandchildren made up. His role as Poppy was one which brought him great joy and comfort.

His passing leaves a void as large as he was in the lives of his wife, brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews their children and countless friends. All who knew Wayne will miss the voice bellowing your name, his infectious laugh and most of all his love.

The family will greet friends at An Evening of Remembrance on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. with words of remembrance shared at 7:00 p.m. in the Gathering Room at Allen Family Funeral Options. An inurnment service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery with military honors, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211.
