Dona Jean Hardy

Hello! Since you are reading this you must be aware that I have embarked on my newest journey. My previous adventure began in Joplin, Missouri on September 9, 1931 when I was born to Donald and Madalyn Cluxton. My birth name was Dona Jean Cluxton, but most people have come to know me simply as Jean, or mom or grandma. My parents were very young and our country was crippled by the Great Depression, so times were very tough. Shortly after I was born, my mother fell ill with tuberculosis and my young father did his best to raise me over the next two years. The difficult decision was made to send me to my great aunt and uncle, James and Grace Singer, for help in caring for me for a two week period, while my parents searched for alternative options. The two weeks became a permanent solution and the Singers literally became "mom" and "dad" to me. My birth dad eventually joined the army and served during World War II
