Jimmie Frank Ellison

August 25, 1940 — May 17, 2010

Jimmie Frank Ellison was born August 25, 1940 in Dallas, TX to Annie and Frank Ellison and older sister, Wanda. Jimmie grew up and lived primarily in the Oak Cliff section of town until he moved his family to Plano in 1977. Jimmie left this world on May 17, 2010 in Plano, TX at the age of 69. His sons were by his side at the time of his passing.

As a youth and young adult, Jimmie loved working with cars. This was a big passion in his life and resurfaced again around the time his two sons were old enough to drive. Jimmie was also a huge football fan. He coached his sons for many years and received much enjoyment supporting their teams. He enjoyed season tickets for a few years at Texas Stadium and loved to watch the Cowboys play. He was also a patriotic American and loved his country very much.

Jimmie graduated High School in 1958 from South Oak Cliff High and then attended North Texas State University. He also served his country in the United States Air Force. Jimmie married Janet King in 1965 where they went on to have 2 sons, Hunter and Brent. Jimmie supported his family as a traveling salesman in the heating and air conditioning industry for most of his working career. He built many life long friends in this time.

Jimmie's passions in his life were his family and friends. He was most alive when he was around the people he loved. He treasured the times he spent on summer vacations in Lake City, Colorado with his sons. There was no place on earth he would rather be. So, many of his best memories were in this place. He loved to fish and be outdoors but seemed to enjoy sitting on the front porch of his cabin visiting with his friends and family most of all. Above all, Jimmie was a man of God and his faith in The Lord was what gave him his true strength. Jimmie was quick to witness to anyone whether it be a friend, family member or stranger. Jimmie was called on many times by his friends and family when someone was in need or had suffered a loss. When anyone would ask him, how he stayed so strong in times of trouble, he always replied that "it was his faith in Jesus Christ that held him up". He was always quick with a hand up to anyone in need.

Jimmie is survived by his two sons Brent and Hunter, daughter in law Jill and his grandchildren, Brayden and Chase. Jimmie had 2 others that he referred to as his own children. David and Tiffany Littlepage, mother of Penny Littlepage who was a great friend to Jimmy for many years. He loved David and Tiff as his own and knew them both for most of their lives. He had several nieces and nephews, Cindy, David, Dana, Carver, Michael, Ryan, Daria and Peyton. Janet Ellison was his wife of 13 years and was the person Jimmie referred to as "his best friend". She was there for him throughout his illness and had great love for him.

After being diagnosed with cancer a year ago, Jimmie faced this challenge head on and with no fear. He spoke to his family and friends many times in last few months of his life to insure that his loved ones knew how much he loved them. He encouraged us all to do the same and lived by example.

Those that knew Jimmie will remember his amazing sense of humor. He was the life of any party and anyone in the room knew that you were not safe as he was going to poke at you in good fun. What a beautiful mind he had.
It is impossible to sum up Jimmie in a few paragraphs other than to say he gave more than he took. He truly loved others more than he loved himself.
