Lyn Hayes Ambler was born January 24, 1967 in New York City, New York to parents John and Jo Hayes. After moving from New York to England, and then to Lubbock, Texas Lyn attended and graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock. She went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Lubbock Christian University. Lyn began her teaching career in Lamesa, Texas, where she taught second grade for many years. She then moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex to continue her teaching career. Lyn taught Special Education in Carrollton/Farmer's Branch and McKinney. While teaching for McKinney ISD her passion for Special Education continued to grow so she went back to school and received a master's degree from University of North Texas. Lyn then became a diagnostician in the Special Education field in the Wylie Independent School district, where she has been for the last nine years. Throughout her entire teaching career her passion for children and most of all special needs students continued to grow. Lyn met her husband Steve in 1999, and they were married November 17th of 2000. They had their only child, Gareth, on December 10th, 2002. As Gareth grew older and started playing hockey Lyn discovered her other true life's calling: BEING A HOCKEY MOM!!!!!! Lyn was an avid fan and supporter of any team Gareth was ever on. Lyn enjoyed travelling with Steve and Gareth to hockey tournaments and countless other games and practices. Lyn's tournament travels included such places as Ontario, Chicago, Kansas City, Phoenix, Colorado Springs and several other places. Lyn even became the Manager for four of Gareth's team. Lyn was always more than ready to jump in and fill any need for Gareth and his hockey teams. Lyn's willingness to help people wasn't just limited to students and hockey teams. She was always there for her family whether it was to talk, or to just take care of them when times were tough. It is at difficult times like this when Lyn really seemed to know just what to say or do. We sure could use her now, but we all know that as she fought and struggled over the last three months, she grew in her faith and had an ever-increasing desire to draw closer to God. Lyn was an amazing Mother, Daughter, Sister, and pretty much whatever else she put her mind to. Lyn is survived by her husband Steve Ambler, son Gareth Ambler, father John Joseph Hayes, Sr., siblings Kim Hayes and John Joseph Hayes, Jr. and his wife Sherri, nephews Carson and Brendan Hayes, father and mother in law Arthur and Margaret Ambler, sister in law Susan Ambler. She was preceded in death by her mother Jo Fitzpatrick Hayes. An Evening of Remembrance will be held to celebrate Lyn's life Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A memorial service will be Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Hunter's Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Rd, Plano, Texas 75023.
