Jimmy Hon Kuen Lau, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the age of 78. Jimmy was born to parents Lau Tak Yum and Lau Tam Yee Wan on September 13, 1938 in Hong Kong. He grew up as the eldest of three and attended secondary school at St. Paul's Co-Education College. He graduated from Grantham College of Education in Hong Kong, and was an educator for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. Jimmy met his love, Florence Lau (née Ma), while they were both in the College of Education. They got married on July 17, 1964 in Hong Kong, and were devoted to each other for 52 years. Jimmy leaves behind his beloved wife to cherish his memories; his son Darwin Lau (m. Diane Lau); and his brothers, Peter Lau (m. Virginia Lau) and Lau Hon Leung; and his step-grandchildren, Angela, Aaron and Amber. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Lau Tak Yum and Lau Tam Yee Wan. Jimmy devoted his life to his family. He was an avid photographer and loved to take photos at places he visited. He traveled widely, had been to numerous countries in four continents, and enjoyed those visits with his family. He collected countless keepsakes and memorabilia, especially lapel pins, during those trips, which along with the memories, will continue to be treasured by his loved ones. An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Sunday April 9, 2017 from 2-4:00 P.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas.
