Judy Gibbs

November 9, 1944 — March 24, 2017

Judy Kay Allen Gibbs was born November 9, 1944 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to parents Russell Dean and Ora Dale Allen. She graduated from Greenland High School in Greenland, Arkansas and moved to Texas with her family in 1963. She worked as a bookkeeper in Dallas and was also employed by General Dynamics in Ft. Worth. Judy spent many years as a dental assistant and in her later years worked in retail sales until her retirement. She loved playing tennis and competed in many doubles tournament matches. Judy was a beautiful woman and always took great pride in her appearance. Most of all she enjoyed decorating her homes and had a flair for creating a warm and welcoming environment. Judy also spent much time outside tending to the plants and flowers in her yard. She was blessed with a "green thumb". She enjoyed traveling; especially to tropical locations where she could bask in the sun. Rarely did you ever see Judy without a glowing tan. Unfortunately, Judy's health became her enemy approximately 20 years prior to her death. She battled her illness with grace, poise and amazing strength. Never did she allow anything to slow her down, nor offer excuses but rather continued to live life to its fullest, as best she could. Her love for sweets never faltered as she could leave a plate full of food but have plenty of room to polish off an entire Key Lime Pie! In spite of the massive amounts of sweets she ate, she always maintained a petite figure. Judy rescued a small orphaned dog who was in his twilight years, naming him Taz. The two of them were fast friends and constant companions. It was as if each was created for the other. In January of this year Taz crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Judy has missed every moment without him. On March 24, 2017 God called Judy home peacefully while she slept. We can only imagine the reunion she had with Taz and her loved ones who have gone before her. Judy's legacy she leaves behind are her daughters Dawn Laffoon and her husband Steve, Danna Shaw, grandchildren Matt McGuire and his wife Cheyenne, Samantha McGuire, Ashtyn Shaw, great grandchildren Nova McGuire and Kamora Munson. While all other things in life change, the constant love exhibited by her mother Dale Allen remained strong until the end. She was preceded in death by her father, brother Robert "Bobby" Allen and grandson Steven C Laffoon. It was Judy's desire that no formal service be held and that she be cremated. At her request her remains will be placed to rest in the Texas Hill Country. Judy, while we will miss you on this earth, we find our peace in knowing that you are whole in every aspect and you have now found perfect peace.
