Mary Catherine Coates

Mary Catherine Coates was born on December 4, 1946 in Corsicana, Texas to parents Cecil and Mary Claire Williams. She went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on March 23, 2017. Mary graduated from North Texas State University and was a social worker for kids at the state school in Denton. Most recently she worked at QMACS for 23 years where she met her best friend; she loved her job and the people she worked for. Mary was a devout Catholic with a very strong faith who truly believed in the power of prayer and may even take credit for her youngest grandchild. She was born to be a mother and her life was all about her kids and grandkids. Mary showed her children what unconditional love looks like and showed them daily. She loved to sit in her backyard to see the flowers and watch her beloved little dog, Lola, run and play. Her laugh was contagious and she loved to laugh. Mary was funny, silly, always kind and willing and wanting to help however needed. Mary is survived by her children William Joseph Coates, Jr. and his wife Charlotte, Whitney Catherine Vandever and her husband Eric, Elizabeth Claire McMahan and her husband Guy, Mary Margaret Majorie and her husband Adam, grandchildren William Joseph Coates, III, Cortlandt Glover Coates, Annamarie Claire Vandever, Whitney Margaret "Meg" McMahan, Mary Claire Majorie, Patrick Francis Majorie, brother James Barclay Williams and his wife Jeanne and her former husband William Joseph Coates and his wife Dawn and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2:30 P.M. with celebrant Father Bruce Bradley. She will be laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and there will be a reception to follow in the parish hall.
