Krista Brooks was born on August 8, 1952 in Oneida, New York to parents Christopher and Shirley (Oliver) Hoose. She attended and graduated from Irvin High School in El Paso, Texas and earned her bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at El Paso. Krista was an educator, teaching high school at Del Valle High School in El Paso and for the past 14 years, prior to her retirement, at Plano East Senior High School in Plano, Texas.
Krista loved to read, tend to flowering plants (even those belonging to others as she would often pick dead leaves from plants as she entered someone's home) and travel; especially with her sister Barb with whom she took a memorable trip to Italy, ultimately becoming their favorite trip of all. She was a dedicated mom, always attending extracurricular activities for her children and creating playful nicknames for the kids and grandkids. Her sons, Matt and Josh, recall her sitting in the stands at baseball games with a book in her lap. The book was put into use when she would watch Josh pitch. It was her way of dealing with her nervousness. Krista also enjoyed celebrating a traditional Christmas season, always including the familiar sounds of "A Johnny Mathis Christmas".
Krista passed away on March 22, 2017 at her home in McKinney, Texas at the age of 64. She is survived by her daughter Kelli Kallail and her husband Joel Ammor, sons Matthew Kallail and his wife Kelly and Josh Kallail and his wife Lauren, her mother and step-father Shirley and Melvin Girardin, sister Barbara Wheeler and six grandchildren, Remy, Jake, Noah, Ethan, Savannah and Sydney, and her constant canine companion Wyatt.
