Erick Anthony Potts

Erick Anthony Potts was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 1, 1967 to parents Larry and June Potts. He was called home to the Lord on March 11, 2017. Erick grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and Plano, Texas, where he played youth baseball and especially soccer, eventually playing for his high school team in Arizona. He graduated from high school from Plano Senior High School and went on to earn his business degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1992. While at UTD he was one of the founding members of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and was also an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. His financial career spanned several years with Navistar Financial and most currently with Capital One, Plano. Erick was a big sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a fan of "The Simpsons" TV program. Erick's proudest moment was the birth of his son, Riley, the love of his life. He was a compassionate and devoted father with a spirit of giving, spending numerous hours volunteering at his church where he helped out with Sunday School and youth ministries as well as the House on the Corner and community outreach with Capital One. Erick was also Riley's youth soccer coach for several seasons. Erick will be remembered by his family and friends as an enormously sensitive and caring man with a great sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and a playful spirit. He was also a devoted father, son, fiancé, brother, and a spiritual man who loved the Lord. Erick leaves behind his cherished son, Riley Keith Potts, his beloved fiancée Janie Stubblefield, parents Larry and June Potts, siblings Ann Nickel and Matthew Grant Potts, nieces Natalie and Peyton Nickel, nephew Seth Nickel, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Erick's life will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Rd, Plano, Texas 75075.
