Robert (Bob) Amis

Robert Wright Amis (Bob) died on February 25, 2017. He was born on April 10, 1936 to Marjorie Sue Hassell Amis and Walter Hogan Amis. Bob graduated from St. Marks School of Texas in 1954, obtaining. his B.S. in Geology from the University of Oklahoma in 1958. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Johnston Amis (Sissie), in 1958 and continued his education at the University of Texas School of Law, earning his J.D. in 1961. Bob's legal career in both Oklahoma and Texas spanned over fifty years. Bob treated his client's problems as if they were his own. Outside of his love for his beautiful wife Sissie and his three wonderful daughters, Bob's greatest love was music. He played the cello, piano, and guitar and had a beautiful tenor voice. Bob sang in the Glee Club at the University of Oklahoma, lead his fraternity in singing events, and sang in church choirs throughout his life, most recently at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years and children Sharon Marie Amis White (Astra), Cynthia Ann Amis Franklin, Marilyn Elaine Amis Chladil, their husbands Gary White (Zippy), Dean Franklin, Jerome Chladil, grandchildren Tom Techentien, Wright and Addison Franklin, Jesse and Aidan Chladil, great-grandchildren Alyssa Azar, Jaxon Techentien and Kellan Techentien, Brother John Michael Amis and wife Ruth Ewell Amis. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service honoring Bob Amis's life will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary of Highland Park United Methodist Church at 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas. Donations in Bob's honor may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church Beyond Campaign or to your favorite charity.
