Alvan Richard Sandoval was born in Brighton, Colorado on February 17, 1944. He was the 9th child of Joseph Noe Sandoval and Guadalupe Maria Maestas Sandoval.
Richard grew up helping his family by working on various farms outside of Brighton.
After graduating from high school, he entered the Navy and served as a SeaBee, Construction Battalion,
in Vietnam, where he earned several medals. Being honorably discharged from the Navy, he settled in the bay area and
worked for Ford Aerospace as a supervisor for the computer operators. In 1979 he married Carol Larason and stayed in California for many
years before moving to Texas.
Richard was very active in the community where he volunteered with The Colony Police Department and the local chapter of the
American Legion as Sergeant at Arms, where he was especially proud of his service at flag ceremonies with both the honor guard
and color guard.
Richard is survived by his wife Carol, her two sons Jeff and David, his three kids Alan and his wife Allison, Jenell and her husband Kerry, and David and his wife Melissa, many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his three sisters Lucy, Margaret and Annie, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by both parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at First Methodist Church The Colony, 4901 Paige Rd. The Colony, Texas 75056.
Inurnment will be Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy. Dallas, Texas 75211.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to the American Legion Post 21 P.O. Box 560997 The Colony Texas 75056
