Marie Cain

Marie Cain was born June 30, 1945 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to parents Cordell and Viola Cain. She was the fifth child of six and the youngest daughter. Marie was a graduate of Booker T Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a child she played the piano and sang in the church choir. With her passion to always look out for others first rather than herself, she decided to follow in her two older sisters footsteps and went into nursing. She attended nursing school and was a graduate of Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. Marie worked as a nurse in several hospitals in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. Upon moving to Dallas in 1989 she worked at UT Southwestern as the supervisor of Hematology, where she eventually would retire. She loved to travel, she loved Oklahoma Sooners football, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Stars, but most of all she loved her family and God. She was inspirational, compassionate and loved by many. Marie is survived by her son Darryl Sanders, sister Versalee Platt, nephews Rodney Platt, Raymond Porter, Darin Cain and Christopher Cain, niece Kim Cain, a great niece, and a host of loving great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Roderick Morrison and siblings Arthell Cain, Shirley Porter, Kermit Cain and Cordell Cain. A funeral service to celebrate Marie's life will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W Park Blvd, Plano, Texas 75093. Marie will be laid to rest at Little Elm Cemetery, Frisco, Texas.
