David was born in Utica, New York to Roger and Edna Hayes. He grew up with one brother, Edward, and they lived out in the country where David loved the outdoors and spent much of his childhood camping, exploring and canoeing. He attended Military School with the hope of going to Annapolis. However, with serious knee damage playing basketball that dream did not happen. He attended the University of Syracuse and spent much of his life in Sales. With his outgoing personality, humor and warmth, he exceled in sales in the Semi-Conductor Industry. After his career as Vice President of Sales he purchased his own company where he was CEO and President, and sold that company in 2014. David married Judie in 1995 and they combined a family that consisted of one daughter and three sons. Today he leaves behind his wife Judie, his daughter Kimberly, his three sons David, Brett and Matt, his daughter in laws Carrie, Kim and Lori, and his son in law Erik. But most importantly he left behind his seven magnificent grandchildren that he loved with his whole heart. Anna, Tatum, Tag, Bella, Trevor, Talyn and Kelcie. David was known to his friends and family as "Dac". This was a nickname that was given to him by his three sons after a night out to see a hockey game. The boys loved telling the story of how that nickname came about, and David loved the nickname Dac. He even had it tattooed on his upper arm. His grandchildren called him Granpa Dac and Dacy with great affection. David had many interest that ranged from hosting friends in his home, ham radios, computer time, reading, fishing, golfing, cooking and canning. He was a five time First Place winner in canning with his Jams and Banana Bread. The loss of David (Dac) to our family is enormous. We loved him, laughed with him, created wonderful memories and traditions with him, admired and respected him, and he will forever be in our hearts. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church of Plano Chapel, 4550 Legacy Drive, Plano, Texas 75024.
