Maureen Otter

August 29, 1929 — November 4, 2016

Maureen Otter, of Frisco, passed away November 4, 2016. She was born in Allahabad, India, on August 29, 1929, to Eric and Marjorie (Barrett) Watts and was the youngest of her siblings, Patsy, Trevor and John, who preceded her in death. At an early age, Maureen moved with her family to Mumbai, where she later completed her nurse's training at King Edward Memorial Hospital, graduating first in the Mumbai Residency. Following her marriage to Neville Otter in 1954, she gave up nursing and became a homemaker. Maureen was an excellent cook, loved to sew and took great pride in her home. She loved music, especially country music and Christmas Carols. She came from a close-knit, loving family and created the same atmosphere in her own home. Following her husband's untimely passing in 1978, Maureen left India in 1984 to live with her daughter Alethea in Plano, Texas. She took great pride in nurturing her grandchildren Shane, Drew and Stuart who were the light of her life and brought a beaming smile to her face whenever they came to visit her, as did her great grandchildren, Harper and Ben. She was a devout Catholic who frequently prayed for those in need, occasionally even for the Dallas Cowboys and Stars when the game was not going in their favor! Her great sense of humor endured till the very end. Despite her small stature and gentle disposition, Maureen had tremendous inner strength that surprised those who did not know her well. Family was the focus of her life and she always put the needs of others before her own. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by daughter Alethea Busby and fiancé Imre Gomes, son Christopher and wife Kerstin, grandsons Shane Busby, Drew Busby and wife Kristen, and Stuart Busby and wife Azusa, two great-grandchildren Harper and Ben Busby, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Maureen's daytime caregiver, Maria Acosta, for her dedication and kindness over the past three years. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, November 11th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco TX 75033. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park.
