Judith Kay Tenley

January 6, 1943 — November 1, 2016

On November 1, 2016, Judith Kay (Hinders) Tenley, 73, passed away in McKinney, Texas with her family at her bedside. She had been a resident of McKinney since 2000. Judy was born on January 6, 1943, in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Russell and Wilodene (Eldridge) Hinders. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marjorie Green. She is survived by her brother Gary Hinders and his wife Annie of Warrenton, Virginia and by her two daughters: Kelly Maberry and her husband Johnny of Melissa, Texas, and Karrie Clark and her husband Ian of Gunnison, Colorado. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Tucker and Will Maberry, and by her nephews, their partners, and their children.
Before moving to McKinney, Judy lived in Colorado for 13 years. There she volunteered for the Boulder County AIDS Project and was an active supporter of the arts community. Before moving to Colorado, Judy lived in Texas for 10 years, where she was first a homemaker and then worked as a Mary Kay Sales Director and later as a personnel consultant. Before that, she lived many years in Maryland, where she spent her young adult life, attended Baltimore Junior College, and became a homemaker. While raising her children she was an active community member, volunteering for and organizing school, neighborhood, and community events. She was an avid gardener, painter and animal lover and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She never met a stranger, accepted everyone for who they were, and exemplified both her loving heart and sense of humor even in the final hours of her life. The family will hold a private service for the interment of both Judy and her mother at the North Union Cemetery in Howard County, Indiana in the spring of 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to the animal rescue organization of your choice.
