Philip G Waugh

September 2, 1942 — September 29, 2016

Philip George Waugh, 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away on September 29, 2016, due to complications from diabetes. Philip was born to the late Charles and Grace Waugh on Sep 2, 1942, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the fourth of four children. He graduated from Eli Whitney High School in 1960 and began a career working in computers as a systems analyst for JCPenney in 1961. He married Mary Sefter in 1972 and they lived together in Manalapan, New Jersey until relocating to Plano, Texas in 1989. He worked for JCPenney for 37 years.

Philip was always a hard worker: he worked at a butcher shop as a delivery boy at age 14, and then in a restaurant from age 16 until he graduated high school. He was a talented craftsman and artist in his spare time, and his hobbies included photography, leather working, embroidery, and decorating Ukrainian eggs. He loved dogs (especially German Shepherds) and was a talented baker who made the cake for his daughter's wedding. He was a true family man in every sense of the word, deeply devoted to his wife and children. His sense of loyalty and caring were unparalleled, and he will be deeply missed.

Philip is survived by his sister Eileen Iasenza of The Villages and his brother Charles Waugh of Atlanta, as well as his three children - Mary Swindell of Boyd; Tara Waugh, of Los Angeles; and Shawn Waugh, of Los Angeles - and two grandchildren, Nate Swindell and Charles Matos.

A brief service will be held at 10am on Saturday, Oct 22nd at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Plano.
