Michael Good

April 17, 1967 — October 11, 2016

On April 17th, 1967 God gave the world an amazing person. Michael was born in Ft. Polk, LA to Bob and Suzanne Good. It was not an easy labor and delivery process but Suzanne will be the first to say it was worth every scream and tear shed. Suzanne and her mother stopped to see Bob on their way home from the hospital with the newly born Michael Barry. Bob was so proud of his first born; he eagerly showed him off and passed him around to all the soldiers standing near. That was the first "almost" heart attack that Suzanne would feel with her beloved son Michael Barry Good.
Michael soon became a big brother to Julia Holly Good. He was not too sure about this new thing that seemed to throw up a lot but she quickly became his favorite playmate. Bob soon went off to Vietnam and Suzanne held her babies tight. Bob fought hard to save so many and now is not only his son's hero but his grandson's also. Michael lived all over the United States and in Germany but calls Texas his home. He made friends everywhere he went and never knew a stranger. He graduated from Georgetown High School Class of 1985 and went on to attend college at Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas. He was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and wore the shirts proudly till the day, "they mysteriously disappeared," after being married for several years.
Michael worked hard at everything he did. From oil fields to book stores to telecom, Michael gave it his all every day. In 2006, Michael met Renee. She was a newly hired to the sales team and clueless in the mobile business world. Renee quickly learned that if she was going to catch on to this business, she needed to start asking Mike Good lots of questions. Michael was always so patient and happy to teach her the ways of the crazy industry. Michael met every Friday with Gordon and Scott for a Bible study and little did he know that through loving our Lord, he was attracting the young new employee. There is nothing more attractive than a man who truly loves Jesus. Renee soon got the courage up and started to talk more than business with Mike. After sharing their love of foreign language, culture, FOOTBALL, tennis and their frustrations with the VAD program, the feelings were more than just friends. Renee finally asked Mike out in January, 2006 and they have spent nearly every day together since that first date.
Mike and Renee were a powerhouse business team and could navigate through the most complex processes the carriers threw at them. They dated for months before anyone really knew they were together. On June 4th, 2007 Michael asked Renee to marry him. Instead of a ring Michael drilled a hole through a penny for his proposal. It is a very sweet story and full of history. Renee agreed to be a Good and they soon were married and expecting their first child.
Michael Alexander Good -Max- was born March 29, 2009, roughly 1 year after their wedding. Max brought out the amazing person Michael was even more. Michael lovingly walked Max back and forth through the colic months, changed many dirty diapers and constantly checked in on his favorite buddy during the night. Mike would drive Renee crazy with all the times he would get up in the middle of the night just to make sure Max really was his son and he wasn't dreaming. He enjoyed his early mornings with just Max from the beginning and all the way till his last morning with him. That was their time! Mike went from giving Max a bottle while watching ESPN to watching The Wiggles and making waffles and finally to playing Skylanders or watching Pokemon and getting Max ready for school. Max and Mike were best friends. Mike taught Max how to catch a fish, play tennis, catch, throw and hit a ball, all about the Alamo and every animal ever. Mike and Max loved to watch documentaries about dinosaurs and animals. They both shared a passion for animals of every kind but especially for the dog they shared, Hemi. Max is so brave like his father and has his daddy's mind, heart and soul. Mike was so proud of his son and was amazed every day that God gave him such a beautiful, smart and fun son. He truly enjoyed every single minute he had with Max and showed Max how to trust and love God fiercely. Max will truly miss not only his father but his absolute best friend and hero.
On February 16, 2013 Eleanor Jane Good made her grand appearance. The minute she was born, she reached for Michael's heart, to which, he willingly handed over and Eleanor proudly holds it tight. Michael was putty in his baby girl's hands. He never complained about dancing with her through many months of colic. Michael would come home from business trips and take the night shift just to spend extra time with her. He played tea parties after long meetings and many hours of "sweetie" and "visitor." Only daddy could make her noodles and yummy coffee the right way and he would try endlessly until he got it perfect for her. Michael started the "baby night night time" routine that has brought many people enjoyment and lots have joined in. Michael and Eleanor had a bond that no one else could ever have. Her daddy is her absolute favorite person in the world and no one else existed if he was near. Eleanor has spent the majority of her 3 years tucked in the crook of Michael's arm. His arms were molded for her to fit perfectly next to him. Eleanor will never hold someone's heart the way she did her daddy's and she will always be his favorite girl.
Michael was the guy you could depend on for everything. He had a servant's heart and gave so many people so much. He would spend his last penny if it brought a smile to someone else. Michael was a loyal Samsung employee. He saw many people come and go through out his time there. He made a lasting impression on many people. He was proud to work for Samsung and truly loved the family he had there.
Michael married into 3 sisters and took it well. Not many men can handle Renee's sisters all at once but he truly loved them and loved having so many nieces and nephews. He was so thankful for Renee's parents Dennis and Chris Dellinger. He loved them as they were his own parents and enjoyed his time when he was with them.
Michael will be missed by so many and he was so strong for so long. Michael taught us how to walk peacefully and with strength into our Lord's arms. He took his journey and used it to show his children how pain and dying can be used to glorify God. Michael was a faithful servant of God and tried every day to glorify Him in all he did. Michael marched bravely into heaven on October 11th, 2016 with his wife holding him in her arms. His father summed up Mike's life in words only a soldier can say. "I have seen many brave soldiers and heroes but Michael is by far the bravest and strongest one." The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Chase Oaks Church in the Legacy Room, 281 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75023. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 in Building 201 at Chase Oaks Church, 201 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75023.
