Irene Taylor Scarborough

Irene Taylor Scarborough age 71, of Rockwall, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Irene was born December 7, 1944, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Cleo and Opal Taylor. She lived most of her childhood years in Tennessee before moving to Austin, Texas briefly. Her family then moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she spent her high school years. Irene attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi where she met Ben Scarborough and they were married October 9, 1964 in Jackson, Mississippi. Irene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana, and a selfless woman who loved the Lord and impacted so many lives with her loving, caring, and giving ways. Irene was preceded in death by her father and mother, Cleo and Opal Taylor, and her grandson, Blake Scarborough. She is survived by her husband, Ben; son, Mike Scarborough of Oakboro, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Kelly Scarborough of St. Charles, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Mark and Susan Ladd of Celina, Texas; and six grandchildren, Taytum, Regan, and Kirby Scarborough and Hunter, Jaxson, and Taylor Ladd. A memorial service celebrating the life of Irene Scarborough will be held at First Baptist Church (Cockrell Chapel) in Garland, 801 W. Avenue D at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Visitation will precede the memorial service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Brooke Nichols Memorial Scholarship at Texas Tech University or the Cumberland Homesteads Tower Association.
