Marjorie Grace Trueba

May 28, 1926 — August 20, 2016

Marjorie Grace Trueba embraced life in a dignified and easygoing manner. She was light-hearted and fun-loving, loved to smile, was true-blue, and always such a joy to be around. Marjorie was born May 28, 1926 in Queen City, Missouri as the middle child among eleven brothers and sisters. They lived on a farm and this is where Marjorie picked up her "Missouri accent." The family moved to Yakima Washington when Marjorie was twelve, and in junior high, she met her life-long friend, Bev Thompson (formerly Allen). After high school, Marjorie worked as a telephone operator in Chicago. Along with many of her siblings, she moved to Seattle, where she met her future husband, Henri Trueba. They met at the Spanish Castle dance club and were married in 1949. They settled in West Seattle, started a family and later moved to Kent, south suburb of Seattle. She and Henri had three children, Mike, Mark and Margo. Marjorie was a working mom, starting at the Hyatt House, and later at the Holiday Inn, employed as an accountant and front desk clerk. She retired from the Holiday Inn after 30 years of service. As their children grew older, Marjorie and Henri enjoyed traveling and made the first of many trips to Hawaii. Hawaii held a special place in their hearts and they returned many times over the years. After retirement, they moved to Sun City, Arizona to indulge in Henri's love of golf and Marjorie's love of bridge. They made many good friends and even encouraged some of Marjorie's siblings to move south and enjoy the Arizona sun. Marjorie had four grandchildren and later after moving to Texas had four great-grandchildren. Her love of babies was apparent until her very last days. She was able to hold her latest great-grandson, only five weeks old, before she left this earth. It was her last smile. Marjorie moved to the Lodge at Quail Park Assisted Living after Henri passed away, and the staff and residents became a second family to her. The love and support given to her as she struggled with health issues meant so much to her. Marjorie loved to dress to the nines, play bridge, go out to lunch, watch golf on TV, fellowship with the other residents, and loved Thursday night Bible Study with Mike, revitalizing her love for Christ! Marjorie is survived by her son, Mark Trueba, and daughter Margo Naramore and son-in-law Tim. Grandchildren are Christi Trueba Busby, Steven Trueba, Michael Naramore and wife Meagan, and Kelli Rud and husband Nick. Great-grandchildren are Naomi and Leah Naramore, and Reese and Jarrett Rud. Marjorie is also survived by her sister Verniece Struzik, brother Harold Flynn and wife Dixie, and sister Sally Ryckman and husband Jim, cousin Donald Funk and wife Willa, and sister-in-laws Joyce Flynn and Reva Flynn. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Henri Trueba, son Mike Trueba, parents Herschel and Grace Flynn, brothers Dale Flynn, Jack Flynn, Rex Flynn, Billy Flynn, Jimmy Flynn, Tommy (Mike) Flynn, and sisters Doris Rummel and Eleanor Barker. Private memorial service will be held for Marjorie in Frisco, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Hospice, 730 Avenue F, Suite 200, Plano TX 75074.
